Rats are extremely social animals and need to live in colonies of at least 2. They become very depressed and anxious if they are housed alone. For this exact reason I will only adopt out same sex pairs or you must be able to prove you have other same sex rats as companions for your new friend. However, I do strongly recommend you adopt two at a time so that they do not have to go through quarantine alone.
